Virginia Teen Suspended for Two Weeks because of Birth Control Pill

A 17-year old high school student in Oakton was suspended for two weeks for taking a birth control pill during lunch time. The school has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to drugs, prescription or non-prescription. If she'd taken heroin or LSD, her suspension would have only been 5 days. Her punishment for taking a birth control pill is the equivalent to if she'd brought a weapon to school.

I understand a zero-tolerance policy for drugs - who's to say whether a kid is taking Ecstasy, Ritalin, Benedryl, or Advil? But honestly, the punishment scale here is quite lopsided. Hopefully this makes the school system wake up and reevaluate some of their policies.

Plate of the Day

So, this was a couple weeks ago at this point, but at our apartment building I saw a VW Rabbit with the license plate:

I couldn't stop laughing.  So sad it was dark outside and all I had was my iPhone, so I couldn't get a pic.  I'm going to keep my eyes open in case this car shows up again, though.

St. Louis

Going to see the Cardinals vs. the Cubs April 26th with Mom and Chris - we have Redbird Club seats... I'm anxious to see the new stadium.  I don't think I've been home since it opened.  Hot dogs and beer, here I come!  If only Dad didn't have to work that day.  *sniff*
